I choose the correct option, because I hang on to every word that Deirdre Shannon says. If you say the second, she’ll call you out on pretending to like the band just because she does. You then have the option to say, “Too bad they changed bassists” or “Too bad they changed drummers.” If you say the first one - you’ll recall Deirdre mentioned the band changing their bassist earlier - Mei will warm up a little. And secondly, why is everyone acting surprised that Nancy likes instrumental dream pop music? It’s not like Mei is listening to black metal. Well, first of all, we didn’t say we liked it, we just asked what it was. “You like this?” Mei responds, all shocked. That gives us an opening to try and bond with Mei over music: “What are you listening to?” we ask.
#NANCY DREW GAME 33 FREE#
She’s in her usual spot in the living room, listening to the same free audio library music we were listening to in the car. Well, anyway, let’s see if we can get some answers out of Mei. What? If Deirdre, Mei’s favorite cousin, couldn’t do it, what makes her think Nancy “Tell Me About Your Dead Mom On Our First Meeting” Drew is going to be able to? Anyway, Deirdre adds that the whole reason she brought us here is because Nancy is her “last hope” to get the alibi out of Mei. I mean, as much as I wish I could agree with Deirdre about everything, I gotta say that our job is to find out what happened, not clear Mei’s name specifically - and the onus is not really on Nancy to provide the alibi. She says that Nancy needs to get Mei to open up to her so that we can find her alibi. Also, you know, call me cheesy but I liked the little aside about the music they’re listening to, too - it makes the scene feel more grounded in a developed fictional world and gives Nancy and Deirdre room to breathe as characters instead of just having them talk about the plot all the time.īack inside the house, Deirdre snaps at us for suspecting Mei. I like this bit a lot - it feels realistic to hang out with Deirdre, bouncing our ideas off of her, and “inside of a car” is actually a totally new location for these games, which is neat. Deirdre is not at all pleased by this, and presumably she stomps out of the car, because we cut to the house next. What, she can’t multitask, Deirdre? Nancy says that this would be a lot easier if Mei would just give an alibi - her refusal to do so makes it seem like she’s hiding something. Deirdre is dismissive, saying Olivia’s just a scam artist, not an arsonist. I choose Olivia, saying that it’s pretty weird that her magic show uses the same trick that we saw in Austria.

(The camera weirdly zooms in and out during this part for no reason.) We then get the option to muse about one of our suspects. It feels like we should’ve said that before going along with Deirdre’s opinions about music, but whatever.ĭeirdre says that she doesn’t like Judge Danforth, and Nancy’s like, “Yeah, I kind of got that.” Hee. Then Nancy adds that she was actually asking what Deirdre thinks about the case. Nancy says she likes the song, to which Deirdre is skeptical. Nancy asks what Deirdre thinks, and Deirdre’s like, “The first album was better before they changed bassists.” Heh.

Everyone in town suspects Deirdre’s cousin, Mei, of the crime, and they’re all like, “Lock her up! Trials are for squares!”Īfter leaving the town square, we cut to hanging out in Deirdre’s car, listening to some trance-y stock background music. Previously on Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem: We explored the town and met some of our suspects.
